Serendipitously this appeared in my inbox as I just hired a new logo artist (today, literally). So it was helpful to read some tips because I’m not an artist, and I’m relying on the artist I hire to take the vision behind my company/brand and translate that into an image. However, I was asked over and over again by potential designers to send sample ideas from online — where does this fall under the topic of trusting the artist to do his/her work? Is it a troubling sign if an artist asks for me to provide a sample of someone else’s work to direct their design process? How does that guarantee true originality?
